What is Commitment?

Commitment

The word originates from the Latin term 'compromissus', which means making a reciprocal promise. Therefore, when it is said that a certain person has a commitment, it means that he respects the agreements he makes, whether they are written or verbal, formal or informal.

Numbers 30:2

When a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

2 Kings 23:3

And the king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book; and all the people joined in the covenant.

Psalms 122:1

I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD!"

Psalms 119:10

With my whole heart I seek thee; let me not wander from thy commandments!

Jeremiah 29:13

You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart.

How to be committed to God?

Commitment to God is something we need to demonstrate and live through our Christian journey. It is indispensable. A magnificent God like ours demands it. Dedication to Him and His Word is the demonstration that we recognize His majesty and submit to it.

Commitment to God and His Word
Throughout the history of Christianity it is not uncommon to find people wanting to do a number of things "in the name of Jesus", but without any commitment to the Word of God.
Countless heresies, men and women without passion. Empty speeches, tedious preaching. All this and much more is the result of relationships without compromise with the Lord and with His Word.
Commitment to God's Work
Christians without compromise in today's churches is more common than a parliamentarian investigated in the "white washing of money". It is a shame!
The Lord God already said this to the prophet Jeremiah a few thousand years ago, that anyone acting fraudulently in his work, is cursed (Jeremiah 48:10). People who replace their responsibilities in the Lord's work with anything, are under God's “negative radar”.
Commitment to the Church of God
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. (Psalm 84:10)

It is impressive the number of people who think that to be a healthy Christian, it is no longer necessary to go to Church or to be part of the Church, because they are the Church. They think that intimacy with God is disconnected from living in the Temple.

Horrible deceit!

Conclusion
Covenant with God is demonstrated by a healthy relationship with the Word, with the work of God and with the Church.

There is an attempt to promote a disconnect between these things. To show that there is no need to keep the sacred elements because after all, God transcends them all.
This is deceit!

Although, I agree with the transcendence of our God, of knowing that we are not able to build a house that will accommodate Him, I know that they are a symbol of things that are eternal and that are to come.

Ruth 1:16-17
