Anxiety and worry

Anxiety

What is anxiety? or worry?

It is an intense, excessive and persistent concern and fear of everyday situations. high heart rate, rapid breathing, sweating and tiredness may occur. Anxiety can be normal and is an indicator of underlying disease only when feelings become excessive and interfere with daily life.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT ANXIETY?

Matthew 6:25 Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

The roots of anxiety are:

  1. Materialism (Matthew 6:19,21) Materialism is a trap for our soul. When we get attached to the things we see, feel, and give us a feeling of pleasure and joy, we automatically despise the spiritual values that we truly need.
  2. Manipulation - Do not therefore be anxious saying: What will we eat or what will we drink, or what will we dress? - those who do not know God, seek only material things. But the Lord says: But seek first the kingdom of God, and His justice, and ALL these things will be added to you (Mt 6:33).
  3. Indecision: No one can serve two masters; because he will either hate the one and love the other, or he will devote himself to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon.
